• Spotlightighting the Spokane river running through the town, Riverfront Park ↑ is a source of local pride. Orginally the site of the city’s railroad history, the downtown space underwent extensive renewal for the 1974 World’s Fair.
• The city’s other signature park, Manito Park and Botanical Gardens ↑, is a Registered Historic Place and a 90-acre park nesteld into the South Hill neighborhoods.
• Nationally, the city is known as the home to Gonzaga University and its storied NCAA basketball team, the Bulldogs.
• Also in the world of basketball, Spokane hosts the world’s largest 3-on-3 basketball tournament every year, known as Hoopfest.
• The city is also home to a unique annual run known as Bloomsday - a 12 km run through the heart of the city - that attracts runners from around the state and the world.
